A Beautiful Evening of Family Photos Near Sherwood Park

I had such a lovely evening photographing Samantha, Neal and their family at my acreage just south of Sherwood Park. It was one of those sessions that reminds me why I love family photography so much: meeting new people, spending an hour getting to know them, and capturing the little personalities and connections that make their family unique.

Their kids were absolutely amazing, and everything about the evening came together beautifully. The light was gorgeous, the setting was peaceful, and it was simply such a fun hour spent with a wonderful new family.

One of my favourite things about photographing families at my Sherwood Park acreage is that there are so many different backdrops to work with throughout the year. And while everyone starts thinking about fall photos once the leaves begin to change, you don’t actually have to wait for peak autumn colour to get beautiful family photographs.

The wildflowers are still looking gorgeous right now, with tall grasses, flowers and natural greenery creating a soft, colourful backdrop. As we move further into fall, the landscape will gradually change, giving us a completely different look while still providing plenty of beautiful options for family photos.

My acreage is about 12 minutes south of Sherwood Park and offers wildflower areas, open grassy fields, treed pathways and other natural settings that give your session plenty of variety without needing to travel far.

And honestly, one of my favourite parts of this job is that I get to meet so many new families through these sessions. Sometimes I discover that the people I’m photographing live surprisingly close by, which makes it even more fun to realize that we were practically neighbours all along!
