A Rainy Mactaggart Sanctuary Engagement Session | Grace & Brenden
When it comes to engagement sessions, we don’t believe rain is a reason to reschedule.
In fact, some of our favourite engagement photos happen when the weather doesn’t go exactly as planned. That’s exactly what happened when Megan met Grace and Brenden at Mactaggart Sanctuary in Edmonton for their engagement session.
Rather than waiting for a perfectly sunny evening, they decided to embrace the rain — and we are so glad they did.
Rainy Engagement Photos at Mactaggart Sanctuary
Mactaggart Sanctuary is one of those beautiful Edmonton locations that looks incredible in almost any weather. With its winding trails, mature trees, natural greenery and peaceful atmosphere, it’s a gorgeous setting for engagement photos.
But add a little rain? Magic.
The soft, overcast light created a beautifully romantic atmosphere for Grace and Brenden’s session. The rain added texture and mood to the photographs while the surrounding greenery became even richer and more vibrant.
There is something incredibly special about photographs that capture a moment exactly as it happened. Years from now, Grace and Brenden won’t just remember what they wore or how they looked. They’ll remember that rainy evening together at Mactaggart Sanctuary — walking through the trails, laughing, getting a little wet and celebrating this season of their lives.
And those are the memories we love photographing.
Why We Don’t Reschedule Engagement Sessions Just Because of Rain
As Edmonton wedding photographers, we photograph in all kinds of weather. Sunshine is beautiful, but it isn’t the only kind of beautiful.
Rain can create some of the most romantic engagement photographs because it naturally slows everything down. It creates a quieter, more intimate feeling and gives us the opportunity to create images that look completely different from a typical sunny-day session.
Of course, there are times when weather genuinely isn’t safe or practical for a session. But if it’s simply a little rain? We’re usually all for it.
Because sometimes the unexpected weather becomes part of the story.
For Grace and Brenden, that rain gave them something they couldn’t have recreated on a sunny evening — photographs that feel atmospheric, intimate and completely connected to the experience they had together.
Edmonton Engagement Photographers Who Embrace the Unexpected
One of the things we love most about engagement sessions is that they don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.
Your engagement photos should feel like you. They should capture the connection between the two of you and the season of life you’re currently in — not just a perfectly styled version of it.
Megan did such an incredible job capturing Grace and Brenden’s connection at Mactaggart Sanctuary, and we are completely obsessed with how their rainy engagement session turned out.
Grace and Brenden, thank you for trusting us to embrace the weather with you. Your photographs are absolutely gorgeous, and we cannot wait to photograph your wedding day!
If you’re looking for an Edmonton engagement photographer and you’re worried about rain on your session date, don’t automatically reach for the reschedule button. You might just end up with some of your favourite photographs ever.
Sometimes the rain isn’t something to work around. Sometimes it’s what makes the photographs magical.
