Torie & Michael’s Whitewood Barn Wedding | Edmonton Wedding Photographer
A heartfelt summer wedding at Whitewood Barn filled with family, emotion, and a perfectly timed storm
Kristina and I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Torie and Michael’s wedding at Whitewood Barn just outside of Edmonton, and it was a day we won’t forget anytime soon.
It was one of those classic Alberta summer days—beautiful, bright, and incredibly hot. The kind of heat where everyone is reaching for shade and cold drinks whenever they can. But despite the temperature, the energy and emotion throughout the entire day never wavered. And then, just as we were finishing up our coverage, a storm rolled in, bringing the perfect dramatic ending to an already incredible day.
What stood out the most was the emotion. Torie and Michael’s connection with each other, their kids, and their families was so genuine and heartfelt. There were so many meaningful moments woven throughout the day—from quiet exchanges to joyful celebrations with their loved ones. It was the kind of wedding that reminds you what it’s all about.
Whitewood Barn continues to be one of our favourite venues to photograph at. The space, the light, and the overall atmosphere create such a beautiful backdrop for a wedding day, and it perfectly complemented Torie and Michael’s vision.
One of the most impressive parts of this wedding was how much Torie took on herself. She planned the entire day alongside Ireland from Whitewood Barn, who acted as the wedding coordinator, and brought everything together seamlessly. From the decor to the florals, her attention to detail was incredible.
Torie created all of her own florals, including the bouquets, boutonnieres, and all of the ceremony and reception arrangements. She also designed and assembled all of the decor—table runners, centerpieces, candles, seating charts, and even homemade strawberry rhubarb jam as guest favours. Every detail felt personal and intentional, adding so much character to the day.
Her gown was from Tres Chic Bridal in West Edmonton Mall, paired beautifully with Betsey Johnson shoes and Swarovski jewelry. The bridesmaids wore dresses from David’s Bridal in Edmonton, while Michael and the groomsmen were dressed in suits from Tip Top Tailors.
Hair was done by Blush Artistry, and makeup by Bliss & Glow Artistry, creating a timeless and polished look for the day.
Guests enjoyed incredible catering by Kosmos, and the evening was brought to life with music from Nyquest Entertainment. The ceremony was officiated by Kerry Yeo, and videography was captured by Capture by Mark. The cake, created by Cake Affair, was a beautiful and delicious addition to the celebration. Nails were done by Vnails in Cold Lake, and guest accommodations and transportation were coordinated through Premier Best Western in Leduc.
Torie and Michael, thank you for trusting us to capture such an important day in your lives. It was truly an honour to document your story.
