Warm Studio Extended Family Photos Near Sherwood Park | Lohner Family Session

When winter in Alberta is at its coldest, the studio becomes the perfect place to gather, connect, and create meaningful memories together. I recently had the pleasure of welcoming the Lohner family into my studio for an extended family photography session near Sherwood Park, and it was such a special experience.

The Lohner family chose studio photography specifically because they wanted warm, timeless images without braving the cold, harsh winter weather. With snow, wind, and unpredictable temperatures outside, an indoor family photo session allows everyone to relax, stay comfortable, and focus on what matters most—being together.

What made this session especially meaningful was that it was the first time in six years that the entire family had been in the same house at the same time. Extended family photos like these are about more than just beautiful images; they are about documenting rare moments that don’t happen often and preserving them for generations to come.

Despite a bit of car trouble on the way to the studio, the session came together beautifully. Once everyone arrived, we slowed things down and created gorgeous, connection-filled images that truly reflect the family’s bond. I used my abstract brown backdrop from Kate Backdrops, which added warmth, texture, and an earthy, elevated feel to the photographs—perfect for timeless extended family portraits.

If you’re looking for extended family studio photography near Sherwood Park, an indoor session is an ideal option during the winter months. The studio offers consistent lighting, cozy warmth, and a calm environment that works especially well for larger families and multi-generational groups.

Extended family photos are an investment in your history. Whether it’s been years since everyone was together or you simply want to capture this season of life, studio photography provides a beautiful, stress-free way to do just that—no matter the weather outside.

If you’re considering extended family photos in the Sherwood Park area, I’d love to help you create something meaningful and timeless.
