Western Winter Acreage Engagement Session: Strathcona County

There’s something so special about a western winter engagement session, and Chelsea and Brady’s time out at the acreage was the perfect example of why I love them so much.

We headed out with snow still covering the ground, right in that in-between season where winter hasn’t quite let go. But somehow, we were gifted a bit of sunshine, and it made everything feel warm and glowy in the best way. That mix of crisp snow and soft light created such a beautiful backdrop for their session.

Of course, with melting snow comes puddles… and not just small ones. We fully embraced it.

By the end of the session, we were absolutely drenched—but it was completely worth it. Some of my favourite images came from leaning into those massive puddles and capturing the most incredible reflections. There’s just something about that texture and depth that adds so much magic to winter sessions, especially when couples are willing to trust the process.

Chelsea and Brady brought the best western style to their engagement session—effortless, relaxed, and completely true to them. They were so easygoing and up for anything, which always makes a session that much more fun and creative.

Western winter engagement sessions might not be the most predictable, but that’s part of what makes them so beautiful. The snow, the melt, the light, and a little bit of adventure always come together to create something unforgettable.
