There’s something so special about those first signs of spring in Alberta—the subtle shift in the air, the longer evenings, and finally… those first peeks of green. This weekend, Megan met up with Kenedi and Cody for their engagement session at Blackmud Creek, and it could not have been a more perfect way to welcome the new season.

Blackmud Creek is one of our favourite locations for engagement photos, especially during that early spring transition. While everything is just starting to come back to life, the soft tones and fresh greenery create such a beautiful, natural backdrop. It’s a quieter kind of beauty—simple, romantic, and full of anticipation for what’s to come.

Kenedi and Cody were an absolute dream to photograph. Their connection is so easy and genuine, which always makes for the most meaningful images. They embraced the season perfectly, leaning into the softness of the landscape and just enjoying time together. Sessions like this are a reminder that you don’t need full summer blooms to create something beautiful—sometimes those first hints of green are even more special.
