There is something so special about fall family photos in Edmonton. The changing colours, cooler mornings, warm layers, and beautiful golden light all come together to create photographs that feel timeless and true to the season.
This morning, I met with Rayna and her family for their family photography session, and we were treated to something a little different: a beautiful layer of fog still hanging over the field.
The fog created the most gorgeous, soft light in the distance. Instead of harsh sunlight, everything felt gently diffused, giving the images a dreamy quality while still keeping the colours completely natural.
Why I Love Natural Colours in Family Photography
One of the things I love most about my approach to family photography in Edmonton is keeping the editing natural.
I don’t want every session to look exactly the same. I want your photographs to reflect what your family actually experienced that morning or evening.
Natural editing allows the light, weather, landscape, and season to become part of your photographs.
A sunny fall evening will look different from a cloudy morning. A little fog in the field will create a completely different atmosphere than crisp, bright sunshine. And I love that.
Those little differences are what make your photographs uniquely yours.

And sometimes it’s simply your family together, enjoying a beautiful autumn morning.
I love photographing families outdoors because we can embrace whatever the day gives us rather than trying to force everything into a specific look.
