A Record-Breaking Winter in the Barn Loft Studio

A Record-Breaking Winter in the Barn Loft Studio

This winter season in my barn loft studio was one for the books.

When I opened up Christmas sessions this year, I truly had no idea just how many families would walk through those barn doors. Winter can be a quieter time for photography, but instead I found myself welcoming more families than I ever expected—and I couldn’t be more grateful.

The barn loft studio was filled with laughter, connection, and so many sweet moments. From tiny toddlers to grandparents squeezing in close, every session brought its own energy and story. And yes… we even set a brand new studio record this year: eight people and a dog on one single backdrop. I’m still impressed we made it work, and even more impressed with how perfectly it captured that family exactly as they are.

This season marked year two of having the barn loft studio, and seeing it so well loved has been incredibly rewarding. What started as a vision on our acreage has grown into a cozy, welcoming space where families can come together—warm, comfortable, and stress-free—even in the middle of an Alberta winter.

To every family who trusted me with their Christmas photos this year: thank you. Thank you for showing up with open hearts, for embracing the space, for wrangling kids (and dogs and cats), and for making these sessions so special. Your support is what allows this studio to keep growing and evolving.

This winter reminded me why I love what I do. Community, connection, and capturing seasons of life—sometimes with a very full backdrop.

Here’s to another successful Christmas season, another year of the barn loft studio, and many more memories still to come.

With so much gratitude – Amy
