A Unique Gothic Wedding at The Stone Barn in Leduc | Talia & Curtis

There are wedding days that are beautiful, and then there are wedding days that are completely unforgettable. Talia and Curtis’s gothic-inspired wedding at The Stone Barn in Leduc was definitely the latter.

Megan had the pleasure of photographing their wedding yesterday, and we are still loving how unique and incredibly cool this day was. With a striking black and orange colour palette, gothic-inspired details, and a style that was completely their own, this was definitely not your typical wedding — and we loved every minute of it!

A Black and Orange Gothic Wedding in Leduc

One of our favourite things about photographing weddings is that no two couples are the same. While we love a classic, romantic wedding just as much as anyone, there is something especially exciting about photographing a couple who completely embraces their own personal style.

Talia and Curtis did exactly that.

Their black and orange gothic wedding brought such a dramatic and distinctive feel to the day. From the colour palette to the details and overall atmosphere, everything came together to create a wedding that felt incredibly personal to them.

And honestly? We LOVE that.

Getting Ready at The Radisson Hotel

The day began with getting ready photos at The Radisson Hotel, capturing all of those little details and moments before Talia and Curtis headed to The Stone Barn. Getting ready photos are such an important part of the story of a wedding day — from the final hair and makeup touches to the excitement and anticipation building before the ceremony.

Talia’s look came together beautifully with hair and makeup by Lume Makeup & Hairstyle, a dress from David’s Bridal, and jewelry from Windsor. Her bridesmaids wore dresses from Infinity Dress, adding to the dramatic black-and-orange aesthetic of the day. The bridal party’s outfits were another fun part of how Talia and Curtis made this wedding completely their own. Curtis and the wedding party wore shirts from Dixxon Flannel, ties from Amazon, and pants from their own closets — proof that you don’t need everything to come from a traditional formalwear shop to create an amazing wedding-day look.

A Gothic Wedding Ceremony at The Stone Barn

From The Radisson Hotel, the day continued at The Stone Barn in Leduc for the ceremony. With Talia and Curtis’s bold black and orange colour palette and gothic-inspired style, the setting was the perfect backdrop for a ceremony that felt completely unique to them.

The ceremony was officiated by Esther Link, Curtis’s aunt, making the ceremony even more personal and meaningful. Talia and Curtis planned the wedding themselves with help from their family, and they also handled the decor themselves. Their DIY approach made the day feel incredibly personal, with details that reflected their personalities rather than following a traditional wedding formula.

Gothic Wedding Formals Around Leduc

After the ceremony, Megan photographed Talia and Curtis’s formal portraits around the Stone Barn and surrounding area. This part of the day gave them a chance to slow down, enjoy being newly married, and create some gorgeous portraits that captured the mood and personality of their wedding.

Reception at the Leduc Rugby Club

The celebration continued at the Leduc Rugby Club for the reception. After such a distinctive ceremony and portrait session, it was so much fun to see the day continue into the evening with their friends and family.

The couple kept the reception personal and fun, with catering by A’cappella Catering and music from family friend Brent Bell. The cake was another wonderfully personal touch — made by the bride and Betty Crocker! The centrepieces and bridal flowers were created using supplies from Michael’s, while the bridesmaids’ flowers came from Amazon.

The Stone Barn in Leduc was such a fun setting for this celebration. The rustic character of the venue paired beautifully with Talia and Curtis’s darker, more dramatic wedding style.

That contrast between the rustic setting and the gothic wedding aesthetic made for such an interesting combination. It gave Megan lots of opportunities to photograph the day in a way that felt artistic, atmospheric, and completely different from a traditional wedding.
