Edmonton Family Photography at the Acreage: Watching Their Family Grow
Edmonton Family Photography at the Acreage: Watching Their Family Grow
One of my favourite parts of being a family photographer is getting to watch families grow over the years. I first met this family when I photographed their wedding, and since then I’ve had the privilege of photographing their engagement, pregnancies, and family photos year after year. So when they came out to my acreage for their latest family photography session, it felt like another special chapter in their story.
But this session had something extra exciting: I was meeting Georgia for the very first time!
And seriously, have you ever met a 9-month-old who will look directly at the camera for basically every single photo? Georgia was an absolute dream. She was so engaged and curious, and somehow managed to give me those sweet little baby expressions over and over again. Photographing a 9-month-old who is this interested in the camera is pretty much a family photographer’s dream.
Of course, she wasn’t the only one making the session special. Walker and Alden are incredibly attentive older brothers, and it was so sweet watching them interact with Georgia. You can already see how much they adore her, and those little moments between siblings are exactly the kinds of memories I love capturing during family photography sessions.
Family Photos at My Sherwood Park Acreage
This was also their first time coming out to my acreage for their family photos, which made the session feel even more special.
My acreage is located just south of Sherwood Park in Strathcona County, and it gives families plenty of space to move, explore, and simply interact with one another. Instead of keeping everyone posed in one spot, I love incorporating the natural surroundings, long grass, trees, open fields, and whatever is looking beautiful that season.
For families with young children, this approach can make such a difference. There is room to run, cuddle, explore, play, and just be themselves while I photograph the little moments happening naturally.
And after photographing this family for so many years, I especially loved seeing how much their family has changed. Their children are growing, their personalities are developing, and now there is a brand-new little person to add to the story.
That is one of the reasons I love being an Edmonton family photographer so much. Family photography isn’t just about getting a beautiful photo for your wall. It is about documenting the people your children are becoming and preserving these little seasons of life before they change again.
Fall Family Photography in Edmonton and Sherwood Park
Fall is one of my favourite times of year for family photos at the acreage. The light is beautiful, the fields take on that gorgeous late-season texture, and there is something about the changing season that makes photographs feel especially timeless.
If you have been thinking about booking family photos for this fall, now is the time. I only have two weeks left to book fall sessions before my fall photography season is finished.
Whether you’ve been coming to me for years or this would be your first session, I would love to document your family exactly as they are right now.
Because one day, that 9-month-old who stared at the camera for every single photo will be running through the field with her brothers, and you’ll be so glad you have these photographs to remember this little season.
