Family Photos at Mill Creek Ravine: Extended Family Photography

Round two at Mill Creek Ravine South was just as special as the first—another incredible extended family filled with the sweetest people. This session had everything that makes extended family photos so memorable: cute kids keeping us on our toes, snacks to keep everyone happy, and grandparents who hadn’t had photos taken in over 25 years. (How amazing is that?!)

What I love about sessions like this is that they go far beyond simply creating portraits. Extended family photos are about celebrating generations, capturing laughter, and honoring the connections that hold a family together. For this family, documenting three generations together felt like such a gift—not only for the grandparents, but for the children who will look back on these images for years to come.

As an Edmonton family photographer, I’ve seen firsthand how meaningful it is to bring everyone together in front of the camera. Parents, kids, cousins, and grandparents all in one place—it’s a rare chance to slow down and celebrate what really matters. And when you pair that with a backdrop as beautiful as Mill Creek Ravine South, you get portraits that feel natural, timeless, and full of life.

The candid moments from this session are some of my favorites—the way the kids snuck snacks between shots, the laughter when cousins tried to line up just right, and the joy on the grandparents’ faces as they held their family close. These are the kinds of photos that become family treasures.

Extended family photography isn’t just about filling a frame with faces—it’s about preserving love, legacy, and togetherness. I’m so grateful to have captured this family at Mill Creek Ravine South and can’t wait to share more from their session.
