Hana & Jon’s wedding at Beyond the Meridian was a beautiful example of how a wedding day can be absolutely stunning, even when Alberta weather has other plans.

Megan had the pleasure of photographing this intimate wedding, and the rain poured for essentially the entire day. That meant all of the couple’s formal portraits needed to take place indoors, but fortunately, Beyond the Meridian is such a beautiful venue that there was no shortage of gorgeous backdrops.

Located in Sturgeon County just outside Edmonton and St. Albert, Beyond the Meridian combines modern elegance with rustic countryside charm. The venue offers beautiful indoor spaces that work wonderfully for wedding portraits, making it an especially great option for couples who want a little more peace of mind when planning an Alberta wedding.

A Rainy Wedding Day at Beyond the Meridian

Rain might not be what couples hope for when they picture their wedding portraits, but sometimes the weather simply doesn’t cooperate.

For Hana & Jon, the rain meant staying indoors for their formal photos, and honestly, Beyond the Meridian made that an easy decision. The venue’s clean, neutral interiors created a beautiful backdrop that allowed the focus to stay on the couple.

Rather than worrying about muddy fields, umbrellas or waiting for a break in the weather, Megan was able to move throughout the venue and create a gallery filled with timeless portraits.

Hana’s Wedding Dress & Jon’s Wedding Attire

Hana found her wedding dress at Le Rêve Boutique in St. Albert. Her receipt lists the dress as Azure Ivory, although she wasn’t sure of the designer.

Her bridesmaid’s dress was purchased from a store in Brazil, while Jon’s wedding-day outfit came from Mr. Derk, an Edmonton menswear store specializing in tailored and formal clothing.

For Hana’s engagement ring and wedding bands, the couple chose Vandenbergs Jewellers. Vandenbergs is an Edmonton jeweller known for custom jewellery and bridal pieces, making it a wonderful local option for couples looking for meaningful wedding jewellery.

Hair & Makeup by Blush Artistry

Hana’s wedding-day hair was created by Lindsay and her makeup was done by Cara, both from Blush Artistry.

Blush Artistry offers professional wedding hair and makeup services throughout Alberta, with a large team of hairstylists and makeup artists. Both Lindsay and Cara are listed members of the Blush Artistry team.

Flowers With a Family Touch

One of the sweetest details of Hana & Jon’s wedding was that the flowers came from family.

Hana’s mom, Leo, and her mother-in-law, Donna, created the floral arrangements for the wedding. Having family members contribute something so visible and meaningful to the wedding day makes the details that much more special.

The couple also handled their own decor, working alongside Beyond the Meridian.

Beyond the Meridian’s Wedding Coordination

Hana & Jon didn’t have a traditional wedding planner. Instead, Katrina from Beyond the Meridian served as their event coordinator.

The couple also noted how much they appreciated the venue taking care of the entire setup. Beyond the Meridian’s hands-on coordination is one of the things that makes the venue stand out, particularly for couples who don’t necessarily want to manage every detail themselves. The venue describes its wedding experience as including hands-on coordination and planning support.

Catering, Cake & Cupcakes

Clayton Schafers from Special Event Services catered Hana & Jon’s wedding.

The cake was another family contribution, made by Donna and Kaitlin. They also had cupcakes from Linda Armbruster of Magnolia Artisan Cupcakes.

It’s always fun to see couples incorporate family into their wedding-day details, and Hana & Jon’s day had several personal touches like this throughout the celebration.

Music & Ceremony

Ken LeLacheur officiated the ceremony. As an Alberta Marriage Commissioner, Ken is able to conduct civil wedding ceremonies throughout Alberta, both indoors and outdoors.

You Don’t Need Perfect Weather for Beautiful Wedding Photos

Hana & Jon’s wedding is a perfect reminder that some of the most memorable wedding photos come from simply embracing the day as it unfolds.

There was no outdoor portrait session because of the rain. Instead, Megan used the beautiful spaces at Beyond the Meridian to create portraits that feel clean, elegant and timeless.

And really, that’s what wedding photography is about. The goal isn’t to make the day look like something it wasn’t. It’s to capture the day you actually had—and all of the emotions, relationships and little moments that made it yours.

Sometimes that means golden-hour portraits outside. Sometimes it means dancing in the rain. And sometimes, like Hana & Jon’s wedding day, it means finding beautiful light and beautiful backdrops indoors while the rain comes down outside.

Beyond the Meridian proved to be the perfect setting for their wedding, and Megan loved getting to document their beautiful day.
