A Beautiful Fantasyland Hotel Wedding in Edmonton
There is something so much fun about photographing a wedding at Fantasyland Hotel in Edmonton. From the unique atmosphere of West Edmonton Mall to the beautiful event spaces and the countless opportunities for creative wedding photography, it is a venue that gives every couple the chance to make their wedding day completely their own.
This beautiful Fantasyland Hotel wedding was filled with personal details, thoughtful choices, family, and plenty of love. From a brand-new wedding dress to DIY décor, fake flowers, budget-friendly wedding finds, and a Costco wedding cake, this couple proved that your wedding doesn’t have to follow a traditional formula to be incredibly beautiful and meaningful.
As Edmonton wedding photographers, we loved documenting all of the little details that made this day theirs.
A Fantasyland Hotel Wedding in Edmonton
Fantasyland Hotel is located inside West Edmonton Mall and offers several event spaces for weddings, from intimate celebrations to larger weddings. The hotel offers wedding planning assistance, customized menus, and accommodations for wedding guests, making it a convenient option for couples who want many elements of their wedding day in one location.
For this wedding, Fantasyland Hotel was not only the venue but also provided the catering for the celebration.
There is something especially convenient about having your reception, food, accommodations, and entertainment all connected to the same location. It makes it easier for everyone to settle into the celebration and enjoy the day without worrying about travelling between multiple locations.
And, of course, there are plenty of opportunities for fun wedding portraits when you’re celebrating at such a unique Edmonton location.
A New Wedding Dress from David’s Bridal
The bride found her wedding dress at David’s Bridal. It was a newer dress that had just arrived at the store, and she fell in love with it.
She wasn’t sure of the designer, which honestly makes the story even better. Sometimes you don’t need to arrive at a bridal shop knowing exactly what you’re looking for. You just need to find the dress that makes you feel like a bride.
David’s Bridal has a large selection of wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, accessories, and alterations, with its Edmonton location serving brides and bridal parties throughout the Edmonton area.
Wedding Party Attire
The bridesmaids found their dresses online through Amazon and JJ’s House.
The groom and groomsmen wore suits from Tip Top Tailors, with the groom choosing his tuxedo there as well.
The couple specifically recommends checking out Tip Top’s wedding offerings if you’re looking for suits for your wedding party. Tip Top has a dedicated wedding program designed to make coordinating suits for the groom, groomsmen, and other members of the wedding party easier.
For couples trying to keep their wedding budget under control, finding wedding attire that looks great without spending a fortune can make a huge difference.
Bridal Hair and Makeup
The bride’s hair was done by Kim from Hair Wizardry, an Edmonton salon known for its creative approach to hair.
Her makeup was done by her bridesmaid Emmy, which made the getting-ready portion of the day even more personal.
Having someone you know and trust take care of your makeup can make the morning feel relaxed and comfortable, and there is something pretty special about having one of your closest friends help you get ready to walk down the aisle.
DIY Wedding Flowers and Décor
One of our favourite parts of this wedding was how personal the décor was.
The bride ordered her wedding flowers online from SHEIN and chose artificial flowers. She and her husband, along with members of their wedding party, took on the decorating themselves.
DIY wedding décor can be a wonderful way to make your wedding feel completely personal while also helping keep costs manageable.
Instead of simply choosing decorations from a package, this couple put their own time and creativity into creating the look of their wedding. Those personal touches are what make wedding days so meaningful to photograph.
A Personal Wedding Ceremony
The couple’s ceremony was officiated by Nancy Hologroski, an Alberta Marriage Commissioner who serves Edmonton, St. Albert, and surrounding areas.
Simply Married by Nancy – Nancy Hologroski
The ceremony was one of those meaningful parts of the day where all of the planning and details fade into the background and what really matters comes into focus: two people choosing each other and celebrating that commitment surrounded by the people they love.
Arriving in Style with First Class Limousine
Transportation for the wedding day was provided by First Class Limousine.
This vendor choice had an extra personal connection because the bride already knew the owner from previously working for him. She describes him as an awesome and very friendly guy, making the choice to have First Class Limousine be part of the wedding day an especially meaningful one.
First Class Limousine offers wedding transportation throughout Edmonton and has dedicated wedding packages for couples looking for transportation on their wedding day.
Wedding Entertainment by Twilite Music Services
Tom from Twilite Music Services kept the celebration going throughout the evening.
Twilite Music Services has been providing DJ and event entertainment in Edmonton since 1979 and offers DJ services for weddings and other special events. Their DJs can also act as a party host and MC, helping keep the evening organized and moving along.
Having a great DJ can completely change the atmosphere of a reception, and it’s one of those wedding vendors guests often remember long after the night is over.
A Costco Wedding Cake That Was Delicious and Budget-Friendly
And then there was the cake.
The couple picked up their wedding cake from Costco — and, as the bride put it, it was delicious and budget-friendly!
We love this.
There is so much pressure surrounding weddings to make every single detail elaborate or expensive, but this is such a great reminder that you can choose what matters to you and skip spending money simply because you’re “supposed to.”
If a Costco cake tastes delicious and makes everyone happy, then it’s a great wedding cake.
Bridal Nails and Pedicure
For her nails, the bride visited Gelli Nails in Edmonton.
Gelli Nails is a locally owned Edmonton business offering nail enhancements, waxing, and eyelash services. The salon emphasizes cleanliness, quality products, and Alberta Health Standards for sanitation.
For her pedicure, she visited Bliss MediSpa in South Edmonton. Bliss offers manicure and pedicure services as part of its spa experience and has a dedicated pedicure room.
She highly recommends both!
Why We Love Photographing Fantasyland Hotel Weddings
As Edmonton wedding photographers, we love when a couple’s wedding day feels like them.
This Fantasyland Hotel wedding wasn’t about following a checklist of what a wedding “should” look like. It was about making choices that made sense for this couple.
A new dress that happened to arrive at the bridal shop.
Bridesmaid dresses ordered online.
Suits from Tip Top.
Artificial flowers from SHEIN.
Décor created by the couple and their wedding party.
A friend doing the bride’s makeup.
A familiar face behind the limousine company.
A Costco cake.
And so many little details that came together to create a day that was completely theirs.
Those are the weddings we love photographing.
Because while beautiful venues and gorgeous details make for beautiful photographs, the people and the story behind them are what make wedding photographs meaningful.

Your wedding doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.
It just has to look like you.
