There’s something really special about graduation sessions — they mark such an important milestone, not just for the graduate, but for the whole family. This evening I had the pleasure of meeting up with the Bell family for Cameron’s graduation photos here in the Sherwood Park area, and it was such a meaningful session from start to finish.

We captured a beautiful variety of images throughout the evening, starting with classic family portraits that highlight just how much this family has grown and changed over the years. It had actually been about three years since I last photographed them, and I couldn’t believe how grown up the kids are now. These are the kinds of sessions that really remind me how quickly time passes and why professional photography is so important for preserving these seasons of life.

One of my favourite parts of the session was photographing Cameron with his girlfriend, Payton. Graduation is such a defining moment, and including someone special in that chapter adds an extra layer of meaning to the images. We also made sure to include some beautiful portraits with Cameron’s grandparents, which brought such a timeless, generational feel to the gallery. These are the images that often become the most cherished over time.

As always, we mixed in a balance of candid moments and more posed portraits so the final gallery feels natural, connected, and full of personality. Sessions like this are a great reminder of how important it is to slow down and document not just the milestone, but the relationships surrounding it.

And of course, I have to mention the backdrop — the spring greens in Sherwood Park right now are absolutely incredible. Fresh, vibrant, and full of life, they created the perfect setting for graduation photos. Spring is truly one of the most beautiful times of year for outdoor photography in the Edmonton area.
